Irozuku
When autumn arrives, the whole neighbourhood slowly changes colour.
The house sits in Kikuhama, held between the Kamo River and the Takase River. As the morning air turns crisp, the trees along the water begin to turn, a little more each day. Stepping out and walking the riverside before the crowds arrive — that is the greatest luxury of autumn here.
Keihan Kiyomizu-Gojo Station is a 7-minute walk away, and from there it is about 10 minutes by train to Tofuku-ji, one of Kyoto's most celebrated places for autumn leaves.

Follow the paths around the pond, where crimson branches rest quietly on the water.
Tsutenkyo at Tofuku-ji
The covered bridge seems to float above a sea of maple leaves — one of Kyoto's great autumn sights, about 10 minutes by train from Keihan Kiyomizu-Gojo Station.

Nestled between the Kamo River and the Takase River, a gentle, waterside calm pervades the town. Set apart from the crowds of the tourist districts, this is a place where you encounter the Kyoto that people actually live in.
